DIY Easy Succulent Terrarium (Star Wars Style)
May the 4th be with you! In honor of Star Wars Day, I decided to design a succulent terrarium for my husband’s office featuring my brother Kevin’s original toy Star Wars figures. It’s easy-to-make and better yet, easy-to-maintain. You only need to water the plants once a month. The Star Wars theme is, of course, optional. 🙂
I already had all of the materials needed because of previous projects that I recently made (scroll to bottom of the post for links to those). So, I was set.
In case you don’t have everything already, here is what you need to get…
Materials:
- 4.5” x 4.5” Cylinder Vase
- Mini pebbles
- Miracle-Gro Cactus, Palm and Citrus Potting Mix (This is great for succulents.)
- Miracle-Gro Moisture Control (You don’t necessarily need this one. I just happened to have it on hand and thought it would bring a different colored layer to the design. The two soil colors were extremely different, but that’s okay.)
- Succulents (What’s great about succulents are that you don’t need to water them much!)
Instructions:
Step 1: Place a ¼” layer of rocks on the bottom of your vase. (The whole purpose of having layers is so that the water can drain for the succulents, whose roots easily die when sitting in water.)
Step 2: Then spread ¼” layer of Miracle-Gro Moisture Control or Miracle-Gro Cactus and Palm and Citrus Potting Mix.
Step 3: Spread a second ¼” layer of rocks.
Step 4: Spread a ¼” layer of Miracle-Gro Cactus, Palm and Citrus Potting Mix.
Step 5: Place your plants inside of the soil.
Step 6: Spread one final layer of rocks on top and enjoy.
Project complete!

On a side note, a few months ago I took Kai to Disney Hollywood Studios (we have season passes) and he was able to fight Darth Vadar himself. The force is strong in this one!
