Fruit Skewer Snacks
Since I work from home, I have the luxury of picking Kai up after school and bring him home. When I worked as a magazine editor in the past, Kai was stuck in extended day. Don’t get me wrong, he had fun, but I didn’t get to spend as much time with him. He made his first BFF there. But, when I picked him up he was soooooo hungry. I wasn’t able to pull food out of the refrigerator fast enough.
Now that I’m home, every once in a while, I have a free moment and I’m able to make him a special after school snack. Kai loves fruit. He loves to eat it and even make things with it.
Today, I decided to make him a special surprise and really it only took me a few minutes.
For Christmas, I bought Kai a fruit cutter. You know, one of those As Seen On TV Pop Chef – it cuts shapes out of fruit – kind of like edible arrangements.
He was so excited when he opened it. I have such a healthy kid. haha. He gets excited about fruit! He rules.
Anyways, I thought I’d make him special treat today out of melon that I bought from the grocery store yesterday. We go through so much fruit in the house. I’m going to make a second trip to the store later this week to buy even more.
Materials Needed:
- Melon (watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew) or actually any fruit you want to use
- Skewers, lollipop sticks or paper straws
- Mini cookie cutters or As Seen On TV Pop Chef
Instructions:
Step 1: Cut shapes out of your fruit.
Step 2: Push your straw, lollipop stick or skewer into your fruit shapes.
