This DIY Ombre String Art is Soooo Easy
I recently designed this fun string art for ForRent.com. (Click here for the complete tutorial.) I knew I was going to make a string art project, but I couldn’t figure out what word or design to create. After yoga one more, during savasana (resting or corpse pose), the word came to me. “Namaste,” which means “the light within me salutes the light within you” in Sanskrit. It’s something you say at the end of each yoga class.
I’ve been doing yoga for just about 20 years. I love it. For the longest time, I pushed myself and always did Ashtanga (power yoga), but earlier this year I been trying yin yoga (more passive yoga that focuses on the stretching). Just recently, I’m picking up my Ashtanga practice again. I think I’m going to mix the two and become super awesome. haha.
Anyways back to the project. It’s so easy.
Supplies:
- Hammer
- Nails
- Wood board or plaque
- Craft paint
- Scissors
- Paint brush
- DIY stencils (just print your words on your home printer)
- Embroidery thread
Instructions:
Step 1: Paint your board or plaque with craft paint.
Step 2: Tape your stencils to the board and then hammer nails around the letters or image.
Step 3: Wrap your thread around the nails. Keep wrapping an wrapping.
To give it an ombre effect, make each letter a different shade of the same color. So easy! Promise!
